Overview

The order management system in WooCommerce allows users to place orders, make payments, and track their purchases, while store admins can manage, update, and process these orders from the WordPress dashboard.

1. Customer Order Process

Step 1: Product Selection

  • A customer browses the store (e.g., searches for trousers).

  • They select a product and add it to the cart.

  • Customers can either:

    • Add to Cart → continue shopping.

    • Buy It Now → go directly to checkout.

Step 2: Checkout Page

  • After choosing Buy It Now or proceeding from the cart, the customer is redirected to the checkout page.

  • At checkout, they must:

    • Enter billing details.

    • Select a payment gateway (e.g., bank transfer, check, cash on delivery, or online payments).

    • Place the order.

2. Configuring Payment Gateways

Accessing Payment Settings

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Payments.

  2. Here, you can:

    • Enable offline payment methods (Cash on Delivery, Bank Transfer, Check Payments).

    • Enable online payment gateways (e.g., Payoneer, PayPal, Stripe, etc.).

Tip: If no payment options appear at checkout, ensure they are enabled in this section.

3. Admin Order Management

Viewing Orders

  • Go to WordPress Dashboard > WooCommerce > Orders.

  • Here, you can see all orders with their status (Processing, Completed, On Hold, Canceled, Refunded, etc.).

Updating Order Status

  1. Click on the order you want to manage.

  2. Change its status (e.g., from Processing to Completed).

  3. Click Update.

  4. The updated status will reflect in the Orders list.

4. Customer Order Tracking

Default “My Account” Page

  • WooCommerce provides a My Account page where customers can:

    • View all their orders.

    • Check order statuses (Completed, Processing, On Hold, Canceled, Refunded).

    • Manage downloads, addresses, and account details.

Adding “My Account” to Storefront

  1. Edit your header with Elementor.

  2. Add an icon box or text for My Account.

  3. Assign the My Account page link to this element.

  4. Customize appearance (icon, color, size, label).

  5. Publish and refresh your site.

5. Troubleshooting (404 Error on My Account Page)

If the My Account page shows a 404 error:

  1. Go to Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced.

  2. Under the My Account Page setting, make sure the correct page is selected.

  3. Save changes.

  4. Refresh the front end — the My Account page should now work correctly.
